Blissful Daily Rituals to Honor the Spring Equinox

Spring Equinox 2023

The Spring Equinox is upon us, bringing with it the promise of fresh beginnings. It’s a promise of sun-kissed days and the opportunity to watch nature blossom. This inspiring transition is the perfect time for you to create new, fruitful growth in your own life. By creating Dincharya - daily rituals – that are aligned with the season, you can bring your body to a state of balance for optimal health. Join us as we discuss exactly how you can set and keep your own daily rituals.

Resolutions in the Spring Equinox

People traditionally set resolutions in the new year. While there’s no wrong time to set goals, the new year is a particularly hard time to follow through. In the US, the days are short and there’s very little sunlight. Many people experience cold, snowy weather. Our bodies naturally tell us to rest.

The Spring Equinox represents the lengthening of days. It’s a magical transition, promising rebirth, and awakening. As nature blooms, we’re filled with new ideas and inspiration. This time provides the perfect energy for creating new daily rituals.

Tiny Habits for Keeping Rituals

Setting resolutions and rituals is far easier than keeping them. That’s because motivation comes and goes. Instead of leaning on motivation, we must create habits that ensure we stick to our rituals.

BJ Fogg, the author of Tiny Habits and a behavior scientist at Stanford University, spells it out for us. To create a habit we can stick to, we must make it so tiny that there’s no excuse not to do it. For example, if you want to meditate, your tiny habit could be taking five calming breaths to start off.

There are three parts to making a habit stick:

  1. Make the habit tiny. Example: Taking a turmeric tablet.

  2. Find out when it naturally fits into your routine. Example: Taking a turmeric tablet right after eating breakfast.

  3. Celebrate. Example: Listening to your favorite song to congratulate yourself on sticking to your habit.

Adding Lakadong Turmeric to your Dincharya

Now that you know how to stick to your Dincharya, here are our favorite daily rituals that can help you get the amazing benefits of Lakadong turmeric.

Ayurvedic Turmeric-Lime-Honey concoction

Our founder’s favorite way to consume turmeric is through a daily turmeric lime drink. She recommends having it right when you wake up, which is the perfect way to remind yourself to complete the ritual. It also naturally fits into your day easily, as BJ Fogg advises.

In your favorite glass, combine:

●      1 teaspoon of Lakadong turmeric powder

●      1 teaspoon of honey

●      Juice of half a lime

●      Lukewarm water to fill the rest of the glass

In Ayurveda, herbs are often prescribed to be taken with lime. Lime is said to improve the solubility of herbs, like turmeric, which helps you absorb their nutrients. In modern analysis, scientists have found that this mixture with lime gives rise to sodium curcuminate whose anti-inflammatory activity tends to be higher than that of curcumin.

Post-Training Golden Milk

Whether you practice yoga, play sports, or prefer strength training, golden milk is the perfect post-training drink. Turmeric can lower inflammation, therefore reducing soreness from workouts. It also increases flexibility.

Mt. Meru Medicines’ Golden Milk Recipe:

Add the contents of one sachet to 8 oz. of your favorite warm milk and the sweetener of your choosing. Stir to combine and relish the blissful, distinctive flavor of Golden Milk.

If you prefer a nighttime ritual, you may also enjoy Golden Milk at night. This warming beverage has a variety of benefits for sleep. You can read more about it in our article here.

Whether you take Golden Milk during the day or at night, what matters most is that you tie it into your existing routine. As BJ Fogg points out, finding where this ritual seamlessly fits into your schedule is the key to sticking to the habit.

Daily Turmeric Tablets

A very simple way to include turmeric in your daily rituals is through turmeric tablets. If you’re pressed for time, take two to four tablets per day and add them where they naturally fit into your existing schedule. Generally speaking, it's easiest to remember to take them with a meal or as part of your post-workout routine.

Turmeric for Lifelong Wellness

Turmeric supports your health year-round - it boosts immunity to protect against colds, supports bone and joint health with manganese, and so much more. There’s always a good reason to consume turmeric. You can read more about how turmeric supports your workouts here and how it carries you through seasonal changes here.

The best way to consume turmeric? Lakadong turmeric. This variety has an 8-9% higher curcumin content than any other kind. Experience its magic for yourself this Spring Equinox with Mt. Meru Medicines. Shop all of our products now.
